Children attending Sanyuka Camp participate in sports, dance, drama, and arts and crafts activities, as well as learn life skills that support their health and wellbeing as HIV positive children and soon to be adolescents.

Funds raised through this BigBuzz "World Community Buzz" activity will support the purchase of Sanyuka Camp T-shirts and goodie bags to be given to the children when they arrive at camp for their 5-day, sleepover camp experience. Remember Alex Brown (R.A.B.)

BigBuzz is a proud supporter of the Remember Alex Brown Foundation and employees have signed the pledge not to text while driving.

R.A.B. was started by Johnny Mac and Jeanne Brown in memory of their 17-year old daughter, Alex Brown. Alex got into a single-car wreck by texting while she was driving to school and consequently lost her life. The foundation's mission is to tell Alex's story to the world and warn people of the dangers of texting while driving. No message is so important that one should risk their life for it.

You can hear Alex's story here .

R.A.B. offers silicone thumb rings for a small donation. If you are in your car and take out your phone to send a text, you will be reminded of Alex by seeing the ring.

"As you drive today, please put your cell phone away and drive safely. Your messages will be there when you arrive at your destination. Make sure that you arrive safely, too."

The Child Center of NY

For more than 50 years, The Child Center of NY has reached across diverse ethnic populations to provide a supportive, caring place for children and families at risk. With more than 70 programs, they work daily to empower children to make good decisions, establish places of safety, help parents build skills to become better providers and nurturers, and make connections to the community.

Their programs - from day care to crisis intervention - promote emotional wellness and secure attachments to parents and other adult caregivers.

When BigBuzz CCO Kevin Kelly was invited to join the board in 2010, he jumped at the opportunity to get involved. Their mission to grant at-risk children the support and opportunities they need to succeed and thrive in life is dear to his heart. Kevin, an Irish-Italian Jew who considers the word "hate" to be the only prohibited 4-letter word in his house and workplace, is surrounded by ethnic, religious and all kinds of diversity in his family. He embraces the opportunity to bring people together and especially to help the next generation receive the same opportunities as he did growing up. He is a proud and active member of the board, assisting in marketing efforts by utilizing social media and traditional means to strengthen the Center's brand and move their mission forward.

ONE.org

ONE l VOICES

BigBuzz proudly supports the efforts of ONE.org. Not only do we donate 25 cents for each bottle of water that we and our clients drink at the agency, but we also make regular additional contributions.

ONE is Americans of all beliefs and every walk of life - united as ONE - to help make poverty history. We are a campaign of over 2.4 million people and growing from all 50 states and over 100 of America's most well-known and respected non-profit, advocacy and humanitarian organizations. As ONE, we are raising public awareness about the issues of global poverty, hunger, disease and efforts to fight such problems in the world's poorest countries. As ONE, we are asking our leaders to do more to fight the emergency of global AIDS and extreme poverty. ONE believes that allocating more of the U.S. budget toward providing basic needs like health, education, clean water and food would transform the futures and hopes of an entire generation in the world's poorest countries.

ONE is nonpartisan; there's only one side in the fight against global AIDS and extreme poverty. Working on the ground in communities, colleges and churches across the United States, ONE members both educate and ask America's leaders to increase efforts to fight global AIDS and extreme poverty, from the U.S. budget and presidential elections to specific legislation on debt cancellation, increasing effective international assistance, making trade fair, and fighting corruption. Everyone can join the fight. The goal of ending poverty may seem lofty, but it is within our reach if we take action together as one. You can start now by joining ONE and pledging your voice to the fight against extreme poverty and global AIDS.

American Cancer Society

Relay For Life

For the past 5 years, BigBuzz has supported and sponsored the Plainview Long Island local Relay for Life® event.

Relay For Life®, the American Cancer Society's signature event, is a fun-filled overnight experience designed to bring together those who have been touched by cancer.

At Relay, people from within the community gather to celebrate survivors, remember those lost to cancer, and to fight back against this disease. Relay participants help raise money and awareness to support the American Cancer Society in its lifesaving mission to eliminate cancer as a major health issue.

During Relay For Life® events, teams of people gather at schools, fairgrounds, or parks and take turns walking or running laps. The events are held overnight to represent the fact that cancer never sleeps. Through the survivors' lap and the luminaria ceremony, we honor the people who have faced cancer first hand, and we remember those who have been lost to this disease.

Be Your Own MVP

The Be Your Own MVP Event, Chaired by BigBuzz CEO Kevin Kelly and sponsored by the American Cancer Society, was an evening focused around men's health and cancer prevention. The event took place on Thursday July 29, 2010 at Yankee Stadium and featured a twenty minute behind the scenes tour of the stadium, various take home photo opportunities, as well as a chance to try out the speed pitching machine and hit a few in the batching cage. The night was a huge success, raised money for a great cause and was a blast for everyone who came out and participated.

Although the event was only one evening, BigBuzz and the American Cancer society worked together to create ACSMVP.COM to help promote the event. A social media campaign was launched in conjunction with the website, which generated a large online buzz and support for the event. BigBuzz is proud to support the American Cancer Society and was honored to be a part of the event.
